30-year-old beauty Katie Holmes will star on upcoming thriller movie "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark", Variety reports. Guillermo del Toro, who previously directed "Hellboy", is set to be the screenwriter and producer of the movie. Meanwhile, Troy Nixey will be the director of the flick.
"Don't Be Afraid of the Dark" is a film adaptation based on a 1973 telepic about a young girl who is sent to live with her father and his new girlfriend. In the house, she discovers devilish creatures who live underneath the stairs.
The movie is scheduled to be filmed this summer in Melbourne, Australia as a "Guillermo del Toro Presentation". It will hit U.S. theaters in 2010.
Katie Holmes was last seen starring on "Mad Money" in 2008. She recently finished the production of her comedy film "The Extra Man", starring Kevin Kline and John C. Reilly.
