David Cook is back on tour after the death of his brother, Adam, on May 2. The tour, which took place at the Musica theater in Akron, Ohio on Friday (May 8) was reported as an emotional performance by Cook. The audience was aware of Cook's situation that many of them passed up flowers and cards and held up signs in honor of Adam who died at 37 of brain cancer.
Cook was cheerful and rocked the audience while carrying the beat up songs from his self-titled studio album. But when he sang Fleetwood Mac's "Tell Me Lies", he became emotional at the line, "If I could turn the page."
Cook also seemed to struggle when carrying slow song "Come Back to Me". "It's gonna be tough for me," the "American Idol" champ told the crowd. "Hold on. I'm sorry. Do you mind if I sing a different song?" He walked out in the middle of the song "Come Back to Me". "It's been a hell of a week. It's good to be here tonight," Cook told the audience when he returned.
Singer Ryan Star who has toured with Cook since February 14, spoke on Cook's performance that night, "It has been a long road for David, and we've seen how tough it has been on him. I think he's doing the best he can."
Previously, another sympathetic statement was delivered by David Archuleta, Cook's ex. main competitor in "American Idol", who expressed his condolence to Cook and his family.
