Eminem wasn't sure to mock Jessica Simpson's weight in his latest music video, "We Made You". Although he is often known for saying exactly what he feels, he admitted that he had to think twice before making fun of Jessica's weight. "Tony Romo is one of my favorite quarterbacks. I don't think he's my favorite - but he's certainly one of my favorites. So I felt kinda conflicted doing the Jessica thing," he told Detroit's Metro Times.
Eminem was originally about to have a slim Jessica Simpson lookalike in the video. "When I say, 'Jessica Simpson, sing the chorus,' we were gonna have a chick who looked like Jessica Simpson come out and sing," he said.
But as the video was shooting, Simpson's fuller figure started making headlines, making Eminem to change the video. "But then Jessica got fat," he said. "I mean, not really fat but she certainly got fat for ... well, Jessica Simpson got fat for Jessica Simpson!" So, the video had a heavier Jessica's lookalike strutting around in daisy dukes with a Tony Romo lookalike and chowing down a burger.
Eminem argued that he wants his singles to be "little time capsules of what's going on in pop culture right at that moment." He defended, "I've always wanted people to be able to look back at each video and go, 'Oh, remember what was going on at that moment!' You know what I mean? 'Oh, that's when Jessica Simpson got fat.' 'Oh, OK!' And even if she gets thin again, that's fine. But for that moment in time, she was fat."
