Penelope Cruz had to miss an event to promote her film 'Nine' at Cannes on Monday, May 18, due to food poisoning, but now she is reported to have recovered.
Penelope Cruz missed attending an event to promote her musical film "
Nine" due to food poisoning, but she is now reported struggling to get recovered. On Monday (May 18), Harvey Weinstein, the boss of Weinstein Co., told reporters at an event promoting the Oscar winner's movie "Nine", which is also starring
Nicole Kidman, that the Spanish actress was ill with "some sort of food poisoning" and was seeing a doctor.
As said by Harvey, Penelope is also scheduled to attend Cannes Film Festival on Tuesday when her new film "
Broken Embraces" directed by Pedro Almodovar will have its premiere. "Tomorrow night is her premiere for her movie. She is getting better and is seeing a doctor right now," Harvey added about Penelope's another plan to attend the festival. Harry also said that she will likely be back to full health by Tuesday and he later told Us Magazine that "she's a little better [than earlier today]."
Penelope got food poisoning while in Cannes, France, to attend the 62nd Cannes Film Festival which was started on May 13 this year. The actress was still OK to attend the Art of Elysium Hollywood Domino party on Monday evening before stepping out because "she wasn't feeling great". A source told Us Magazine that the Oscar winning actress got feverish after eating fish Sunday night and that she didn't want to pull out of the Domino event. "She really wants to be there," the source said earlier Monday. "The priority is to get better for tomorrow night. No one wants to lose their Cannes moment."
