Miley Cyrus May Be Ariel Moore in 'Footloose' Remake

Miley Cyrus will play Ariel Moore in the 1984 hit "Footloose" remake. After Paramount Picture confirmed that Chace Crawford will take the role of Ren McCormack in the film, they now show an interest in Miley to lead the role of the preacher's daughter. "They've expressed interest in Miley for the part," a source close to the tween queen informed E! Online.

It was reported that Miley "is definitely in the mix." Other names which also in the mix are Hayden Panettiere, Amanda Bynes and "Dancing with the Stars" Julianne Hough. The three of them have auditioned in recent weeks for Ren's dancing partner role. Miley hasn't had to audition yet but it's probably not necessary since her dancing and singing ability has been proven, L.A. Times wrote.

However, Cyrus' reps haven't commented yet on the potential casting coup. It is also reported by E! Online that Miley's schedule is already booked solid until the end of 2009's summer. But it wouldn't be a big matter since the movie is set to begin shooting in March 2010.
