During a court hearing at a Los Angeles court, Chris Brown has pleaded guilty to one count of felony assault against his estranged girlfriend Rihanna.
Chris Brown was seen heading to the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center in Los Angeles on Monday afternoon, June 22, where he pleaded guilty to one count of felony assault against his estranged girlfriend
Rihanna. As a part of the plea bargain, Chris will receive 5 years probation and spend 180 days of community service in Virginia.
Chris' lawyer Mark Geragos announced that the young singer will also stay in his hometown Virginia, but he must return to California once every three months for updates. During the probation, he has to obey a protective order, which means he cannot harm or harass Rihanna, and a stay-away order, which requires him to stay at least 50 yards away from the Barbadian singer. He'll begin the sentence on August 5.
21-year-old songstress Rihanna was also seen coming to the courtroom shortly after Chris left the room. Entering through a private entrance, she was accompanied by her lawyer Donald Etra. "She was fully prepared to testify, and she would have told he truth about what happened that evening," Etra told reporters after the hearing, claiming his client was "feeling fine".
Chris Brown was charged with felony battery and making criminal threats for beating Rihanna on February 8, just hours before their performance at 2009 Grammy Awards. As a result, they couldn't attend the awards show. During a court hearing in April, the "Run It!" singer pleaded not guilty to both charges.
