Beyonce Knowles and Lil Wayne are among the winners at 2009 BET Awards, which has been held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
Winners of 2009 BET Awards have been announced. 27-year-old songstress
Beyonce Knowles came out victorious by grabbing two gongs during the event, including Best Female R&B Artist and Video of the Year for her tune "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)".
Another winner at the awards show was
Lil Wayne, who got an award for Best Male Hip Hop Artist category. He beat Rick Ross,
T.I.,
Kanye West, and
Young Jeezy, who were all nominated for the category. Then, Best Female Hip Hop Artist gong was earned by
M.I.A.
Meanwhile, The O'Jays,
Alicia Keys and
Wyclef Jean got special awards. The O'Jays grabbed Lifetime Achievement Award for their contributions to music industry. Alicia and Wyclef, in the meantime, received Humanitarians of the Year prize for their involvement in charitable causes.
2009 BET Awards was held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Sunday, June 28. The host of the show,
Jamie Foxx, along with the presenters and performers of the event paid tribute to
Michael Jackson, who passed away on Thursday, June 25.
