Mariska Hargitay has signed on to reprise her role as Detective Olivia Benson on 'Law and Order: Special Victims Unit' 11th season.
It is confirmed that
Mariska Hargitay will reprise her role as Detective Olivia Benson on "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit". A spokesperson for NBC tells Us Magazine that the 45-year-old beauty has agreed to involve in the production of the TV series in the fall.
Also joining her to return to the 11th season of the show is Christopher Meloni, who portrays Detective Elliot Stabler. Additionally, Emmy winner Christine Lahti has reached a final deal to become a guest star for the first four episodes of the season. Stephanie March, meanwhile, is slated to reprise her role as district attorney Alexandra Cabot for ten episodes.
Previously, Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni reportedly were in long negotiations to star on "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit". Though terms of the deal have not been disclosed, both of them were reported earning approximately $375,000 per episode before a new deal was struck.
The drama series was first aired in 1999. It centers on the detectives of new elite force, the Special Victims Unit, who have a duty to investigate and prosecute various sexually oriented crimes, while trying to balance the effects of the investigation on their own lives.
