17,500 Free Tickets Prepared for Michael Jackson's Memorial Service

AEG Live, the organizer of Michael Jackson's memorial service, has confirmed that 17,500 free tickets will be given to randomly selected fans who register at the venue's website.

AEG Live, the organizer of Michael Jackson's public memorial service which will be held at the Staples Center on Tuesday, July 7 at 10:00 A.M., has confirmed that they will give 17,500 free tickets for randomly selected fans who register at StaplesCenter.com from Friday, July 3 at 10:00 A.M. to Saturday, July 4 at 6:00 P.M. 11,000 fans will get a chance to get inside the Staples Center, while the other 6,500 will watch the ceremony from big screens at the Nokia Theatre across the street.

For those who don't get the tickets, they can watch a live worldwide television feed which is going to be provided free to networks or on streaming video on the Web. AEG Live will also use a wristband system to crack down on scalpers.

"This is a memorial. I'm hoping that people have dignity. We're doing our best to accommodate the worldwide demand," Tim Leiweke, president and CEO of AEG, which owns the Staples Center, said in a statement. "For those who would try to take advantage of this, shame on them."

Additionally, Los Angeles' councilwoman Jan Perry, suggested fans who can't get the tickets "might want to consider watching this from the comfort of" their own home. The ceremony will not be broadcast outside the venue on any of the jumbo screens.

Jackson's family spokesperson Ken Sunshine also added, "Everything about the memorial has to do with accommodating as many fans as possible ... It is all about the fans." Talking about the funeral of the King of Pop, who passed away on Thursday, June 25, Sunshine confessed, "It is still being developed."
