Michael Jackson's family has released a preliminary list of celebrities who are expected to pay tribute to the King of Pop in his memorial service at the Staples Center on Tuesday morning, July 7. On a press release from the Jackson family's publicists, it is confirmed that Mariah Carey and Jennifer Hudson will participate in the ceremony.
Other famous stars, including John Mayer, Usher, Stevie Wonder, Kobe Bryant, Brooke Shields, Magic Johnson, Lionel Richie, and Berry Gordy will join them. However, there has been no word on the stars' specific roles at the service.
Contrary to those who will come to the memorial service, Michael Jackson's ex-wife Debbie Rowe claimed she won't attend the ceremony. Her attorney Marta Almli said in a statement that "her attendance would be an unnecessary distraction to an event that should focus exclusively on Michael's legacy."
Additionally, the 50-year-old singer's friend Elizabeth Taylor confirmed that she won't attend the event. "I just don't believe that Michael would want me to share my grief with millions of others. How I feel is between us. Not a public event," she wrote in her Twitter page. "I said I wouldn't go to the Staples Center, and I certainly don't want to become a part of it. I love him too much."
