Kara DioGuardi has another thing to celebrate this weekend beside American Independence Day. On Sunday, July 5, the "American Idol" judge married her longtime boyfriend Mike McCuddy in Prospect Harbor, Maine. At the 20-minute small ceremony which was begun at 12:30 in the afternoon, the singer wore a strapless, mermaid-style wedding gown designed by Vera Wang.
Kara and her general contractor fiance swapped their vows at United Methodist Church, which is located across the street from her house. Pastor Scott Nurse, Sr. who officiated the ceremony claimed the wedding was "very sweet." He informed, "They are absolutely in love with each other. When I told him he could kiss the bride, everybody cheered." The nuptial was attended by around 30 guests, including Kara and Mike's closest friends and family.
"I feel great. What was most unbelievable about the experience was when I looked out at the church and saw all these people that were so important to me and Mike, who were there for us. It was pretty powerful," Kara stated after the ceremony. She continued telling , "I was very emotional and I'm not somebody who breaks down and cries."
Kara DioGuardi, 38, and Mike McCuddy, 34, first met when he built a house next to Kara's in Maine. The couple got engaged in December last year during a vacation in Mexico. The star announced their engagement at the day when she made her debut as "American Idol" judge on January 13.
