Representative for Simon Pegg has confirmed the British actor is now a father after his wife gave birth to their first child at the weekend.
British actor
Simon Pegg, who appeared in "
Star Trek", is now a father. His wife Maureen McCann gave birth to a baby girl at the weekend, his representative has confirmed. The baby is the first child for the couple who got married four years ago in July.
Simon, who is the godfather of
Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin's five-year-old daughter Apple, previously admitted that he was very excited to be a dad. He claimed, "It's the most important thing to me. I'm very excited. I want to be a really good dad, a good influence and a good role model - someone my child can turn to, whatever the hell that means... It's all to do with your attitude and making sure they stay grounded, but making sure they aren't deprived of anything."
Simon Pegg announced that his wife was five-month pregnant after Brit Awards on February 18 this year. At that time, he uttered his hope to have a daughter, stating "I'm hoping for a baby girl, but I really don't mind what we have. We're thinking of having it in America as the baby will then have dual citizenship. I'm really looking forward to it. It's going to be amazing."
