Selena Gomez's TV series 'Wizards of Waverly Place' secures a spot among the nominees of the Outstanding Children's Program category.
Nominees of 2009 Primetime Emmy Awards have been announced.
Selena Gomez's TV series "Wizards of Waverly Place" scores a nomination at the Outstanding Children's Program category. Expressing her happiness when knowing that her TV project secures a nomination, Gomez, who portrays Alex Russo in the comedy family show, tweeted, "What an honor, I'm speechless. I am so blessed! Can't wait to celebrate with the crew today!"
Her co-star Jennifer Stone also commented on the nomination, saying "My publicist called my mom - and then my mom woke me up with the news. It beats an alarm clock, I'd say. It's really exciting and totally an honor." Then, she continued, "Its such a collaboration between writers, actors and crew. Everybody comes together and does their part - definitely a group effort."
Tina Fey's "30 Rock" receives a record-setting 22 nods, the most nods that a TV show has ever collected in history. Then, "Family Guy" secures a spot among Best Comedy Series category, making it the first animated show to score a nod in the category since "The Flintstones" in 1961.
61st Annual Primetime Emmy Awards is scheduled to be broadcast live on CBS from L.A.'s Nokia Theater on September 20.
