Britney Spears is not going to perform at 2009 Teen Choice Awards, a representative for the event has told Access Hollywood. The singer was reportedly going to sing at the event after an announcement of her performance at the show was posted on her official site on Thursday, August 6.
Following the denial from the Teen Choice's rep, Britney's official site has clarified its previous statement, noting "Britney is appearing, not performing at the TCAs." It also mentioned, "We are deeply sorry for any confusion and disappointment and appreciate the ongoing dedication of Britney's wonderful fans."
Britney will still appear on the stage as she is going to receive an award. The show producers have confirmed that the pop star will be honored with the Ultimate Choice Award. The "If U Seek Amy" songstress is also nominated for Choice Music: Single for her track "Circus," Choice Music: Female Artist, and Choice Music: Tour.
2009 Teen Choice Awards will be aired on Monday, August 10 at 8 P.M. ET on FOX. The "Twilight" cast reportedly will be among the attendees, while Black Eyed Peas have been confirmed to perform at the show. Miley Cyrus will also sing her new single "Party in the USA" at the ceremony which Jonas Brothers will serve as the host.
