Dishing on his preparation before shooting for 'Footloose' remake, Chace Crawford has revealed that he has undergone an 'intense' dance training.
Chace Crawford, who has been officially announced to play leading male character Ren McCormack in "
Footloose" remake, has just revealed about his preparation for the musical drama film which will begin shooting soon. In an interview with MTV during 2009 Teen Choice Awards, the "Gossip Girl" star stated that he has undergone a dance training though he is busy shooting for the CW series.
"I'm training right now in New York, and it's pretty intense," Chace said on his preparation before filming the remake of
Kevin Bacon's 1984 film. He then compared himself to Willard, a character in original "Footloose", who doesn't know how to dance until Ren teaches him. "I'm more like [Chris Penn's character] Willard, trying to learn the dances at this point. I'm getting muscles that I didn't even know were there worked out," he admitted.
During the interview, Chace who called the film as "a modern adaptation" also talked about the script. "['Erin Brockovich' writer] Susannah Grant adapted it, and she's amazing. It's gonna be different, but they've also got nice moments woven in there from the original; some of the other stuff is cut out," he said.
Chace additionally noted that he will not re-create Kevin's iconic character in the original film, claiming "I want to do something different." The 24-year-old actor explained, "No one wants to imitate. It's gonna be one of those things." He then stated that his idea has been supported by the "Hollow Man" star, saying "I'm just thrilled that he's supporting it." However, when he was asked whether Kevin will make a cameo appearance in the new flick, Chace just answered, "You never know. We'll see."
In "Footloose" remake, Chace Crawford will star opposite
Julianne Hough, a former "Dancing with the Stars" contestant. Previously,
Zac Efron has been cast to play Ren in the new movie, but he later dropped out, allegedly saying that he wanted to take a break from musicals. Directed by Kevin Ortega, the new "Footloose" is scheduled to be released in U.S. theaters on June 18, 2010.
