Billy Ray Cyrus finally gives statements about his famous daughter Miley Cyrus' pole dance at 2009 Teen Choice Awards. "You know what? I just think that Miley loves entertaining people. She loves singing [and] songwriting," the 47-year-old country music singer tells Access Hollywood.
Though many people criticized Miley for her provocative performance at the annual awards show, Billly Ray says he always supports her daughter's career as a singer and actress. "I always tell her to love what you're doing and stay focused for the love of the art and not worry so much about opinion," he states.
During 2009 Teen Choice Awards, which was kicked off at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California on August 9, Miley Cyrus performed her song "Party in the USA". Donning a black tank top matched with hot pants, the teen sensation was seen sexily dancing around a pole. In the middle of her performance, she was also videotaped standing on an ice cream's cart.
Speaking about Miley's raunchy performance, Disney recently said in a statement, "Disney Channel won't be commenting on that performance." Then, the statement continued, "Although parents can rest assured that all content presented on the Disney Channel is age-appropriate for our audience - kids 6-14 - and consistent with what our brand values are."
