16-year-old Nick Jonas has a desire to lead U.S.A. someday. "I've always said that I would like to be president," he told Suzanne Malveaux, CNN White House Correspondent, at National Press Club luncheon on Monday, August 24. Asked by Suzanne when he will possibly sit in the Oval Office, the member of musical trio Jonas Brothers claimed, "Maybe 2040."
At the same event, Nick shared his experience after he was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age 13. "I was not going to let diabetes slow me down, and to this day it hasn't," he recalled. "And at times, when blood sugar's high and it's low, it would be easier to just throw in the towel and say, 'Enough's enough, I'm done, and I'd like to just have a day off from diabetes,' but it just doesn't work like that."
Beside sharing his experience battling against diabetes, the ex-boyfriend of teen sensation Miley Cyrus said, "I'm here to basically raise awareness and encourage people to continue to do what they can to raise awareness as well in their own circle and on a broader scale." He then added, "Obviously, we've made some advances in technology to better manage our diabetes, but we're hoping for a cure one day, and that's what the main goal is."
