It has been confirmed that Kevin Jonas, Joe Jonas, and Nick Jonas cannot come to 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, which will be kicked off at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on September 13. BBC News reports the Jonas Brothers won't attend the event because of scheduling conflicts as they are currently embarking on a world tour and will have to fly to Canada in the next few weeks to start the production of their upcoming movie "Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam". It is also mentioned that the threesome's absent from the show isn't caused by Russell Brand, who will once again become the annual awards show's host.
Back on 2008 MTV Video Music Awards, comedian Russell Brand criticized Jonas Brothers for wearing purity rings, their commitment for not having sex before getting married. Responding to Brand's previous comment, Nick Jonas tells BBC News, "As far as his comments were concerned, what we said from the beginning was that he seemed to run out of material. But if we're the butt of his jokes, it's kind of a compliment in a bizarre way."
Knowing that Brand gets a hosting job again at this year's event, 16-year-old Nick says, "He has form and ultimately he does a great job." The Miley Cyrus' ex-boyfriend then continues, "We hope he has a good time this year."
2009 MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast live on MTV September 13 at 9 P.M. ET. Some top-notch stars, including Lady GaGa, Taylor Swift, Pink, Beyonce Knowles, Jay-Z, Muse, and Green Day, are scheduled to take the stage to perform their songs at the event.
