The 40-year-old Australian actress was hit by a prop during her Wednesday, September 2 performance of 'A Streetcar Named Desire', which resulted her bleeding from the head.
Oscar-winning actress suffered a minor head injury when performing on stage Wednesday, September 2. The Queen Elizabeth I of "" was hit by a property during her "A Streetcar Named Desire" performance at The Sydney Theatre Company (STC), the Australian Associated Press (AAP) reported.

Blanchett, who takes the role of Blanche DuBois on the show, was performing a scene with Joel Edgerton, who plays Stanley Kowalski, when the incident happened. The theater's spokesman, Tim McKeough said that Blanchett was hit by a radio prop. "There was a minor incident on stage that unfortunately did injure Cate," he said.

A member of the audience, as reported by Sydney Morning Herald, recalled that Edgerton accidentally hit Blanchett with a '60s-style radio, adding that audience could see Blanchett's blood streaming down her head. "He [Edgerton] was supposed to throw it [the radio] out the window, but it sort of slipped and hit her in the head, she was so good, she just went straight on," the witness said of the incident.

Although acknowledging that a prop injured the Hollywood star, McKeough denied the radio was thrown at her. "That is not correct. There is no point in the show in which the radio is thrown at her," he told AAP. "There was a moment when another actor lifted the prop above his head and she somehow sustained a minor blow to the head."

The accident, thus, forced a sudden cancellation of the show and sent the audience home. Nevertheless, McKeough confirmed that the actress, who starred in the movie "", was expected to be back on stage for Thursday's (September 3) show. Additionally, the spokesman revealed the current condition of the actress, saying "Cate's fine. I've just spoken to her and she's fine."
