Ellen DeGeneres Thrilled to Replace Paula Abdul in 'American Idol'

Ellen DeGeneres has admitted that she is thrilled to become the fourth judge in 'American Idol', filling the seat that was left by Paula Adbul.
It's official, has been chosen to become the fourth judge in "American Idol", joining , Randy Jackson, and , when the show returns to its ninth season. On Wednesday evening, September 9, Fox announced that the talk show host will fill the empty seat left by , who decided to quit the hit reality show on August 4.

Ellen has shared about her new job during the taping of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show", saying "I'm going to have a day job and a night job. This is so exciting for me!" The 51-year-old actress/comedienne furthermore stated, "I'm thrilled to be the new judge on 'American Idol'. I've watched since the beginning, and I've always been a huge fan. So getting this job is a dream come true, and think of all the money I'll save from not having to text in my vote!"

"Hopefully I'm the people's point of view because I'm just like you. I sit at home and I watch it," Ellen additionally revealed about how she is going to be when she becomes part of the judges panel. "I'm not looking at it in a critical way from the producer's mind. I'm looking at it as a person who is going to buy the music and is going to relate to that person."
