Megan Fox, who reportedly will play Aspen Matthews in 'Fathom', says the character should be portrayed by an actress who loves the female superhero as well as the comics, though it has not to be her.
Megan Fox, who will co-produce "
Fathom" alongside her on-and-off lover
Brian Austin Green, has been widely rumored to star as major character Aspen Matthews in the movie. In a recent interview with MTV, the 23-year-old star has shared her thought of the actress who is best to play the titular character if she doesn't get the role.
"I want someone who loves her and loves the comic to play her. It doesn't have to be me, but I just didn't know of any actresses at the time who loved the comic or even knew about it," Megan explained without mentioning any name. She then added, "So I was sort of fiercely protective of it, because I didn't want it played by someone who doesn't give a s--- about it."
The "
Transformers" beauty additionally admitted that she is very selective in choosing the star who will play the female superhero character because she loves the comic. "I grew up reading the comic book. I really found some similarities with her that I sort of took safety in, in a weird way, as a kid," Megan claimed.
During the interview, the actress also revealed about the progress of the movie project. "They wrote the script and I think the studio is making notes on the script now," she informed.
In related news, Megan Fox is currently filming "
Jonah Hex", in which she plays Leila, a gun-wielding prostitute who is also Jonah Hex's love interest. Meanwhile, her upcoming film "
Jennifer's Body" will be released in U.S. theaters on September 18.
