Elijah Wood has started his acting career since he was a child. In an interview with Parade, the actor has stated that he never regrets having to work at an early age. "I was in movies when I was 8 years old, so to me that was normal," he stated, before adding "But I never thought I was being robbed of my youth or robbed of innocence. If anything, I felt like I was gaining experiences and sort of growing in a really good way as a result of it."
Elijah, who claimed he felt older than he was when first working with adults, also said he is confused when people said they noticed how he grew up. "People keep telling me they've watched me grow up on film, but I never really noticed it myself," he admitted. "It feels kind of strange to think that people are that aware of my growth because it's happened on the screen. If I had my way, I would have just skipped the whole teenager thing and gone right from kid to adult."
During the interview, Elijah also compared the title character in upcoming animated sci-fi "9", whose voice he's provided, to Frodo, the hobbit character that he portrayed in "Lord of the Rings" trilogy. "There have been interesting parallels drawn between the character of '9' and Frodo in 'Lord of the Rings'. I realized that they are both sort of innocents that accept a sense of responsibility and go on this journey and they both grow," he told .
