Recreating some famous moves of late Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson has opened 2009 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, September 13 with a tribute performance to her brother.
As being scheduled before, Janet Jackson has paid tribute to her late brother Michael Jackson at 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, which has been kicked off on Sunday night, September 13 at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Serving as an opening performer at the awards show, the songstress recreated some famous moves of her brother.
Wearing black and white tight leather outfit, Janet was accompanied by several dancers who wore similar costumes. They danced to her and the King of Pop's hit "Scream", which was played on a giant screen on stage. Among the dancers were famous choreographers, who have collectively worked with Michael, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, NSYNC, Celine Dion, and Prince.
Prior to Janet's performance, Madonna gave a surprising speech about Michael. Donning all-black outfit, the pop diva recalled her friendship with Michael, which was begun when they were young stars in early 1990s, and reminded the audience that he was a hero. She then added, "Yes, Michael Jackson was a human being, but yes, he was a king."
