Following his insult at Taylor Swift during 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, Kanye West has made his third public apology to her during 'The Jay Leno Show' on Monday, September 14.
Kanye West has delivered his third public apology to Taylor Swift during "The Jay Leno Show" on Monday night, September 14. The talk-show's host Jay Leno mentioned that the rapper was actually only scheduled to perform "Run This Town" along with Rihanna and Jay-Z. However, West wanted some time on the show to apologize for his bizarre behavior toward the country music songstress at 2009 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, September 13.
"Dealing with the fact that I hurt someone or took anything away, you know, from a talented artist - or from anyone," West told Leno, who chose to conduct the interview chair-to-chair. "Because I only wanted to help people."
"My entire life, I've only wanted to do and give something that I felt was right and I immediately knew in this situation that it was wrong," West continued. "It's actually someone's emotions that I stepped on. It was rude, period. I'd like to apologize to her in person."
When asked by Leno what the rapper's late mother would think when watching his rant at the event, West kept silent for some seconds before answering "You know, obviously, I deal with hurt and, you know, so many celebrities, they never take the time off." Then, he added, "And I've never taken the time off, just music and music and tour after tour, and I'm ashamed that my hurt caused someone else's hurt."
"After this, I need to just take some time off and analyze how I'm going to make it through the rest of this life, how I'm going to improve," West explained further. "Because I am a celebrity and that's just something I'm going to have to deal with."
At 26th Annual MTV Video Music Awards, Kanye West insulted Taylor Swift when she gave an acceptance speech for her Best Female Video gong. At that time, he claimed Beyonce Knowles should have won the award.
Soon after the show, he took to his blog, writing "I'm sooooo sorry to Taylor Swift and her fans and her mom." The following day, he wrote a new apology in his blog after removing the previous post, saying "I feel like Ben Stiller in 'Meet the Parents' when he messed up everything and Robert De Niro asked him to leave ... That was Taylor's moment and I had no right in any way to take it from her. I am truly sorry."
