Michelle Williams Talks About Raising Daughter Without Heath Ledger

Being hunted by paparazzi following Heath Ledger's death, Michelle Williams has admitted that it is hard for her to be a single parent for her and the actor's daughter, Matilda Rose Ledger.

More than one and a half years after the tragic death of Heath Ledger, Michelle Williams has shared about her experience of being a single parent for her and the actor's daughter, Matilda Rose Ledger. In an interview with Vogue's October issue, she explained that it's hard for her to raise their child with the presence of paparazzi. "It's hard to be the man and the woman in that [paparazzi] situation," she said. "Heath always used to do that for us."

Following Heath's death, Michelle claimed there has been more paparazzi in her family's life. "Because he died - it's so hard to say it, now that it's a fact - it's because of this tragedy that there's more paparazzi. That is hard to be graceful and understanding about," she revealed. She additionally explained to the publication of what she told her daughter about being pictured by paparazzi, recalling "It's because people really loved your daddy that they want to take your picture, to know you're all right."

Michelle Williams and Heath Ledger, who first met during the filming of "Brokeback Mountain", had been engaged before they split in August 2007. When her ex-fiance passed away in January 2008, the actress admitted that she struggled to cope the grief. "I was holding it together by a string and a paper clip in the fall and winter," she stated. "I didn't know if I could keep it all together... You console yourself by saying it's all a deepening process. But it's wired. After the first year, the pain is less intense -- it's less immediate. But the magical thinking goes away too. And that's a whole new reckoning."

Somehow, Matilda Rose Ledger always manages to bring back her strength as Michelle confessed, "Every time I really miss him and wonder where he's gone, I just look at her." She additionally told Vogue about their daughter, "I'm falling more and more in love with her. And I think she deserves the bulk of my attention."
