Avril Lavigne Confirms Separation From Husband Deryck Whibley

After being reported that her marriage with Deryck Whibley was in serious trouble, Avril Lavigne has finally announced she has decided to get separated from her husband of three years.

It seems that Avril Lavigne and Deryck Whibley will stop playing beautiful song together. Following speculation that the couple was going to get split, the songstress has finally confirmed that she and the Sum 41's lead vocalist, who have been married for three years, have called it quits. On Thursday, September 17, Avril has taken to her official website to announce the separation, writing "Deryck and I are separating and moving forward on a positive note."

Though she has chosen to get separated from Deryck, the "Sk8er Boi" songstress claimed her relationship with her estranged husband is still good as she wrote, "I am grateful for our time together, and I am grateful and blessed for our remaining friendship." She then added, "I admire Deryck and have a great amount of respect for him. He is the most amazing person I know and I love him with all my heart." The 25-year-old additionally thanked her family, friends and fans who have given her support.

Avril Lavigne and Deryck Whibley, who have been friends since she was 17-years-old, had been dating for about three years before they tied the knot on July 15, 2006. In late 2008, their marriage was said to be on the rocks, but Avril later denied it, saying "He makes me happy." However, rumors that their relationship was in serious trouble were never really over.

Most recently, Avril and Deryck were said ready to get divorced after she was spotted enjoying a solo outing in Southampton. At that time, she was seen partying hard with a number of male admirers at celebrity eatery Georgica. "She wanted to get away from Deryck and have a weekend to herself," said a source close to the Canadian singer.
