Though he has bad reputation after interrupting Taylor Swift's acceptance speech in 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, Kanye West is still considered as one of notable musicians in 2009 BET Hip-Hop Awards. Recently, it was announced that the rapper is nominated for nine categories in the upcoming musical awards event.
Kanye receives nod for Best Hip-Hop Collaboration with his featuring in Young Jeezy's "Put On", while his fourth studio album "808's & Heartbreak" is honored with CD of the Year nomination. Additionally, he is also nominated as Best Live Performer, Lyricist of the Year, Producer of the Year, MVP of the Year, Hustler of the Year, and People's Champ as well as for the Made-You-Look award (Best Hip-Hop Style) category.
Following Kanye with seven nominations each are Lil Wayne and Jay-Z, who will compete in a number of the same categories, including Track of the Year category. Another rapper who has the potential to become a big winner in the annual awards show is T.I. who receives six nominations, including Best Hip-Hop Collaboration, Track of the Year, and Best Hip-Hop Video for his collaboration with Rihanna on "Live Your Life." Meanwhile, late DJ AM is honored with DJ of the Year nod.
The 9th Annual BET Hip-Hop Awards will be held on Saturday, October 10 at Atlanta's Boisfeuillet Jones Civic Center and will be aired on Tuesday, October 27 at 8:00 P.M. Serving as the host will be actor and comedian Mike Epps.
