Patrick Swayze's representative has announced that a private memorial for the late actor, who died because of pancreatic cancer, will be held on Sunday, October 4.
It has just been announced that a memorial for
Patrick Swayze is going to be held on Sunday, October 4. According to his representative, the memorial, which is closed for public, will be kicked off at Sony Studios in Culver City, California.
"In lieu of flowers," the spokesperson says in a statement. "Please make donations to either of the following two organizations: The Patrick Swayze Pancreas Cancer Research Fund ... or Stand Up to Cancer". This won't be the first memorial for the "
Dirty Dancing" star. On September 19, his family held a free, public service for him.
"Ghost" actor Patrick Swayze, who was first diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in January 2008, passed away on September 14 after battling the disease for about 20 months. Announcing the death of the star, his publicist Annett Wolf at that time confirmed, "Patrick Swayze passed away peacefully today with family at his side after facing the challenges of his illness for the last 20 months."
