Several scenes from 'The Twilight Saga's New Moon' are included in the music video for Death Cab for Cutie's 'Meet Me on the Equinox'.
MTV has debuted the music video for
Death Cab for Cutie's tune "Meet Me on the Equinox", the first single off "
The Twilight Saga's New Moon" soundtrack album. In the footage, the indie rock band is filmed rocking to the track in a dirty room.
Additionally, the "
Twilight" film's leading stars, including
Robert Pattinson and
Kristen Stewart, appear in the clip. Several scenes which show Pattinson's Edward Cullen saying goodbye to his lover Stewart's Bella Swan in the woods are also featured in the video. The footage, moreover, also includes a scene which captures Bella committing suicide by jumping from a cliff as she really feels devastated due to her separation from Edward.
Ben Gibbard, the band's frontman, describes the clip as "a moody time warp, full of shadows that alternately grow and shrink, of sunlight that fills windows, then disappears behind corners." About the message of the song, he tells that "while time is relative, the end result is the same: Everything ends."
Dishing on the inspiration behind the single, Ben Gibbard recently said, "The song at its core is just about meeting another halfway, because life is very short, because there's only a brief period of time to really connect with people, and that it's important to recognize that." Then, he continued, "I haven't read all of the 'Twilight' books, but I know a bit about them, and I think the song is really based on tones of the series."
