Hilary Swank Admits She Was a Loner Before Getting Divorce

Hilary Swank admits that she was a loner because she used to spend most her time only with ex-husband Chad Lowe, whom she called her best friend.

"Million Dollar Baby" star Hilary Swank will grace the November issue of Marie Claire magazine. In an interview with the publication, she has commented on people's assumption that she is a loner. "Yeah, I can totally see that," she answered. However, the actress claimed it is part of her past life as she said, "For a long time, I was a loner because Chad [Lowe, Hilary's ex-husband] was my best friend, and we were really happy just hanging out, he and I."

Hilary then added, "I think it was maybe five years ago that I realized how important my friends were to me, and I realized they were a big part of my letting go. When I got divorced three years ago, I needed them more than ever." Affirming that she is no longer a loner, the 35-year-old beauty admitted that she has a best friend, stating "I have really good girlfriends. Mariska Hargitay is my best friend."

During the interview, Hilary, who had married to Chad for more than 8 years before deciding to separate in 2006, revealed that facing a divorce is one of the hardest moments in her life. "Going through a divorce is horrible," she told Marie Claire. "Having been with Chad so young - we met when I was 18- it was all I knew. It is really hard. I certainly don't wish it on anyone."
