Following speculation that Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo have rekindled their romance, the former 98 Degrees' member has finally confirmed that he is back with the 1998 Miss Teen USA. "I am happy in a relationship," he told Good Day Philadelphia on Thursday, October 8. "I was single for a minute there, and then we've kind of patched things up."
Nick then sang praise to Vanessa, saying "She's a very smart girl. She's far smarter than I." Dishing on the reunion, a source told People that "the relationship remains a work in progress." The source informed, "They've always had a lot of love for each other, but they took a little break, and now they're working on their relationship."
Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo, who began dating in 2006 following his split from Jessica Simpson, decided to call it quits in June this year. Two months later, however, the two sparked reunion rumor as they were spotted stepping out together for several times. In September, Nick hinted that there was possibility for both of them to rekindle their romance as he stated, "We're trying to figure things out. I don't pretend to know what the future holds, but everything's good. Vanessa's a good girl, and I care about her a lot."
