Avril Lavigne Files for Divorce From Deryck Whibley

After announcing her separation from Deryck Whibley a month ago, Avril Lavigne has finally filed for divorce from her estranged husband on Friday, October 9.

Avril Lavigne has made it clear that her marriage with Deryck Whibley will be over for good. The Canadian songstress has filed for divorce from her estranged husband on Friday, October 9 in Los Angeles Superior Court. Based on the petition, she cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split.

Avril Lavigne and Deryck Whibley, who tied the knot on July 15, 2006, were first reported having some problems in their marriage in late 2008, but the "Sk8er Boi" hitmaker kept denying that her relationship with the Sum 41's lead vocalist was on the rocks. However, their split rumor was never really over. At that time, a source told E! Online, the couple had been "growing apart for months. They have become more like business partners rather than husband and wife."

Later, on September 17, 2009, Avril announced her separation from her husband of three years, writing on her official website "Deryck and I are separating and moving forward on a positive note." She, additionally, explained, "I am grateful for our time together, and I am grateful and blessed for our remaining friendship. I admire Deryck and have a great amount of respect for him. He is the most amazing person I know and I love him with all my heart."
