Miley Cyrus Left Twitter Due to 'The Hate-rix', John Mayer Says

'It's just this fake world of people criticizing other people,' says John Mayer when explaining the meaning of 'The Hate-rix', which he describes as Miley Cyrus' reason to stop tweeting.

John Mayer has commented on Miley Cyrus' decision to leave Twitter. The 31-year-old rocker claims the teen sensation stopped tweeting because of what he's dubbed "The Hate-rix". Explaining further about the term, John tells MTV News, "I call it that because it's not really happening. It's just this fake world of people criticizing other people."

"It's a shame, but look, that's what it comes down to in America. Miley is somebody who's made a bunch of money doing something she loves," the ex-boyfriend of Jennifer Aniston goes on detailing. "Most people do things they hate, for less money. If somebody can repurpose something that somebody loves doing for a lot of money, in order to make a little bit of that money, they're gonna do it. So nobody hates Miley Cyrus; they're just picking up on her brand, repurposing it, to try to make a little bit of Miley cash."

John, moreover, claims he can understand the Disney cutie's decision to close her Twitter account, stating "I think she's smart enough to realize there is some interference of the brain that she doesn't want to deal with. Artists have enough to deal with." Later, he adds, "She's a child, she's a fantastic artist - I think there's enough mental real estate being taken up by dealing with all of that stuff ... I think if you're in Miley's situation, it might take a little too much time to play goalie for your own heart and mind. So I totally get it."

Starting from October 8, fans have not been able to access Miley Cyrus' Twitter page anymore. At that time, there was speculation that the young actress/singer left Twitter because her "The Last Song" co-star Liam Hemsworth had asked her to do so. However, the "Hannah Montana" actress soon debunked the news, saying in a rap video "It wasn't because my friend told me to."
