Boasting its best premiere ratings since its inception, CW has given a full-season order for 'The Vampire Diaries', adding 9 more episodes for the show to complete its first season.
CW has given a full-season order for
Paul Wesley's vampire drama TV series "The Vampire Diaries". According to Variety, the show has boasted the network's best premiere ratings since the United States' network was launched at the beginning of the 2006-2007 television season. Additionally, the series had 3.8 million viewers in its latest episode that was broadcast on Thursday, October 15, so the network will add 9 more episodes for the show.
"The Vampire Diaries" is about
Nina Dobrev's Elena Gilbert who has always been a star student as she is beautiful, popular and involved with school and friends. As the fall semester begins, Elena becomes fascinated with mysterious new boy in school, Paul Wesley's Stefan Salvatore, and she has no way of knowing he is a centuries-old vampire.
While Stefan struggles to live peacefully among humans, his brother
Ian Somerhalder's Damon is the embodiment of violence and brutality. Now these two vampire brothers - one good, one evil - are at war for Elena's soul in the small town of Mystic Falls, Virginia. The first episode of the show was aired on September 10.
In addition to "The Vampire Diaries", "Melrose Place" also got a pick-up. CW has ordered 5 more episodes for the show, which is based on its 1990s original, and hoped
Heather Locklear's return to reprise her role as Amanda Woodward will draw more viewers for the rest of the season.
