Paul Wesley considers Damon, the character played by Ian Somerhalder on 'The Vampire Diaries', a sociopath who is 'completely oblivious.'
"I think Damon is a sociopath," states
Paul Wesley when commenting on
Ian Somerhalder's character on "The Vampire Diaries". Later, the depicter of Damon's brother Stefan continues telling MTV News, "I don't think Ian [Somerhalder] is going to see his character that way. Damon is completely oblivious."
"He's consumed in being a vampire and power and he really believes that feeding on humans ... it's just as simple and natural as breathing. He doesn't understand," Paul explains further about Damon. "There's no guilt, which is fascinating."
Still in the same interview, Paul, who was originally auditioned to portray Damon, also dishes on his character, saying "I don't think I am a good vampire." He then details, "Stefan is fully aware of hurting others and harm, and so for him he's, like, always unhappy. It's almost like someone who's dependent on some sort of drug and then being in rehab, and you're never the same."
In related news, "The Vampire Diaries" has been given a full-season order by CW as it has boasted the network's best premiere ratings since the United States' network was launched at the beginning of the 2006-2007 television season. There will 9 nine more episodes for the show to complete its first season.
