Keira Knightley has reportedly beaten Scarlett Johansson to play Eliza Doolittle, the major character in 'My Fair Lady'.

Keira Knightley has been reported to play Eliza Doolittle in "
My Fair Lady". According to U.K.'s Telegraph, she has beaten
Scarlett Johansson, who has previously been rumored competing with the British beauty for the role.
Moreover, the site reported that Keira will team up once again with director Joe Wright, with whom she worked together on "
Pride and Prejudice". "Joe and Keira are looking forward to working together again immensely," a friend of the helmer said.
In 2008, Keira Knightley confirmed that she has been auditioned for the role in "My Fair Lady" and begun singing lessons. Then, in early October this year, one of the producers for the upcoming movie, Duncan Kenworthy, expressed his desire to see the 24-year-old actress being involved in the film, stating "I think Keira would be absolutely fabulous in it."
"My Fair Lady" will serve as the new version of classic musical film with the same title. The movie's script is being written by Emma Thompson while
Daniel Craig has been linked to play Professor Henry Higgins. The flick, which aims for a 2011 release schedule, will revolve around simple Cockney flower girl Eliza Doolittle who is transformed into a lady.
