Portraying a lesbian in '90210', Rumer Willis' Gia will be paired with Jessica Lowndes' Adrianna in the show's upcoming episodes that will be aired in January, 2010.
It was announced that
Rumer Willis has been billed to portray a lesbian in "90210". However, during her appearance in the fourth episode of the TV series' second season, her character Gia has not been paired. Recently, the executive producer of the show, Rebecca Sinclair, told Entertainment Weekly that Gia will get her dating partner in January, 2010.
Rebecca also revealed that teen mom Adrianna, portrayed by Jessica Lowndes, is going to be Gia's girlfriend. Talking about doing possible kissing scene with Rumer in the drama series, Jessica told the magazine, "I've never kissed a girl before so it's a little nerve-racking."
About the same-sex storyline in the CW series, Rebecca insisted, "This isn't a fling." She then added, "We're coming at this [relationship] from a genuine place and not going, 'Let's do a titillating story that will grab some promotion.' This is a real aspect of teenager life that's interesting... And there's been a real void in the '90210' universe in terms of gay and bisexual characters."
"90210", the spin-off of iconic drama "Beverly Hills, 90210", revolves around Wilson children,
Shenae Grimes' Annie and
Tristan Wilds' Dixon, who have moved to Beverly Hills from Kansas in season one. The show's second season, meanwhile, has been premiered on September 8.
