Rihanna, who has performed twice in previous American Music Awards, has been confirmed to take the stage of the same event this year.
Following report that
Rihanna will take the stage of 2009 American Music Awards, MTV News has confirmed that the R&B diva is indeed going to perform at the event. She will join
Eminem,
Jay-Z,
Adam Lambert, and
Black Eyed Peas, who have been announced earlier as the headliners of the show.
However, as of the press time, there has been no word on the single that is going to be sung by the Barbadian beauty during the award ceremony. Previously, Rihanna has appeared twice at the same event. In 2007, she performed her duet with
Ne-Yo, "Hate That I Love You," and her breakthrough hit, "Umbrella", while in 2008, she sang "Rehab".
The 37th Annual American Music Awards will be held on Sunday, November 22 at Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles and aired live on ABC at 8:00 P.M. EST/PST. Among the possible winners at the event is
Taylor Swift, who leads the pack with six nominations.
