'Britney is aware of all this and she's extremely upset by it,' promoter Paul Dainty responds to news that fans walked out of her first ever Australian concert.
Reports were mounting over the weekend that disgruntled Australian fans have been accusing
Britney Spears of lip-syncing during her show in Perth, and the pop singer is apparently not happy about it. To The Australian newspaper, her promoter Paul Dainty spoke out that the 27-year-old "is aware of all this and she's extremely upset by it".
"She's a human being," he went on explaining. "I'm embarrassed, with such a big international entourage here with Britney, to be part of the Australian media when I see that kind of totally inaccurate reporting." About the report of fans walking out from the concert after only three songs at Perth's Burswood Dome on Friday, November 6, he responded, "It's the biggest lie I've ever heard."
"We can take heat if there's something wrong and people can review shows badly - that's something you have to live with - but to say people stormed out of the show was an absolute fabrication," Dainty continued on slamming the circulating rumor. Sounding off similar denial was the Burswood Dome's management, which stated they had received no complaints from the 17,000 attendees. A spokesman added, "From Burswood's perspective, the event was a huge success."
Spears' manager, Adam Leber, also came to Spears' defense. Through the singer's Twitter account, he
blamed a sole Australian journalist for sparking the lip-sync row. "It's unfortunate that one journalist in Perth didn't enjoy the show last night," the tweet read. "Fortunately the other 18,272 fans in attendance did."
The Daily Telegraph has reported on Saturday, November 7 that Spears disappointed her fans coming to her "Circus" show by miming most of her songs on stage and singing only on ballads during her Friday performance. Providing evidence, it quoted a fan named Amanda Hawlet as saying, "I want my money back or I want her to sing properly."
"The ticket cost me $200 and she lip-synched the whole thing," the so-called fan continued to complain. "It's cost me half a week's wage and you've got bills to pay, but you look forward to this concert, it's a night out - and what do you get? Nothing! It was a waste of $200 - I could have got four pairs of shoes for that."
Britney Spears is set to perform 15 gigs in Australia, which takes place in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, as part of the "" tour which was kicked off in New Orleans, U.S. in March. She is expected to perform in Melbourne on Wednesday, November 11.
