Hosts Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley are not the only one poking fun at the rapper during the gala ceremony of the 43rd Annual Country Music Association Awards.
It has been nearly two months since he infamously cut Taylor Swift's MTV Video Music Awards speech, but Kanye West still becomes the subject of jokes. On Wednesday night, November 11 at 2009 Country Music Awards, country music people got back at him through hosts Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley, and Grand Ole Opry's member Little Jimmy Dickens.
Underwood and Paisley poked fun at the rapper during their opening monologue. Singing "Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys", they changed the lyrics into "Mamas don't let your babies grow up to be Kanye. Let them pick guitars and drive them old trucks, 'cause cowboys have manners, they don't interrupt."
Later on the show, Kanye received another jab when Dickens walked out on stage to interrupt Paisley's speech after Underwood praised his "Welcome to the Future" video. "Excuse me! Excuse me sir ... I'll let you finish later. Now Brad Paisley, I know you had a nice video and all that, but Taylor Swift made the best video of all time," Dickens said. "You go girl." The video of Dickens' interruption can be seen via People.
Back in September, Kanye West jumped on stage when Taylor Swift delivered her acceptance speech for Best Female Video kudo. Grabbing the microphone from the country singer, the rapper immediately said, "Yo Taylor. I'm really happy for you. I'm gonna let you finish but Beyonce [Knowles] had one of the best videos of all time. One of the best videos of all time!" He later on apologized directly to Swift for his outburst.
