If the famous boxer is proven to violate probation for hitting photographer Tony Echevarria at LAX, he might end up spending two and a half years in an Arizona prison.
Following assault on celebrity photographer Tony Echevarria at Los Angeles International Airport on Wednesday, November 11,
Mike Tyson could be facing some jail time. Court officials in Arizona believe Tyson had crossed the legal line and they are currently looking at the incident to find out if he indeed violated his probation. If he did, he might spend 2 1/2 years in prison.
The officials state that if charges are filed, the case will come off as a violation. In the meantime, Tyson is currently serving a three-probation term from a drug arrest in Arizona.
Responding to the incident, Tyson's spokeswoman, Tammy Brook, claims the 43-year-old scuffled with Echevarria because he wanted to protect his family. "Mike acted in self-defense as a father protecting his child," Brook states.
In contrary, Echevarria says in a video posted by TMZ that he "wasn't aggressive, was shooting from a distance, and respectful" to Tyson. Moreover, he mentions that he had received five stitches after the boxer hit him at least four times. "When you're getting hit by Mike Tyson, it's the worst thing in the world you can imagine," he testifies.
The altercation happened when Mike Tyson passed through LAX from Europe en route to Las Vegas. According to Tammy Brook, he was traveling with his wife and 10-month-old child when Tony Echevarria began taking his picture at the United Airlines terminal.
