After saying that Swift's Entertainer of the Year nomination was 'too much, too soon', the older country singer clarifies her words and credits Swift as 'beautiful, hard working young woman'.
Before
Taylor Swift made a history by being the youngest artist ever to win the Country Music Association Awards' Entertainer of the Year title, Wynonna Judd has made a commentary to USA Today that dissed the younger songstress. But, she was quick to issue an apology through her website and clarifies her words.
"I understand that my comment about Taylor Swift's Entertainer of the Year nomination came across as a negative statement," she began her posting. " My intent was not to take anything away from her talent and contributions to the country music industry...all of which are truly unprecedented for an artist of ANY age."
The sister of actress
Ashley Judd went on to praise Swift. The posting on her message board ended with words, "Taylor is a beautiful, hard working young woman that deserves the success she has had and I support her as an artist and as a woman in the business."
Wynonna Judd came out with the slamming comment at the red carpet of the CMA Awards on Wednesday, November 11. Asked by USA Today about her advice for the "You Belong with Me" hitmaker, Wynonna said, "You want my honest comment? It's too much too soon. Time is God's way of keeping everything from happening at once. It's just too much of a good thing too soon."
"My thing is, being a home-school mom, I want kids to earn it, and I think some time ... 'cause mom and I rode in a car for the first year of our career to visit radio stations," she added. "There was a making of the star, there was a rising up, and the fans went with us. Now it's over coffee breaks, the success, almost. You have to play catch up ... It's like the girl who wins an Oscar and she's under 20. What do you do from here?"
Coming to 43rd Annual CMA Awards, Taylor Swift was nominated for four titles. She went on to sweep all four kudos and dethrone four-time winner
Kenny Chesney for the Entertainer of the Year kudo. Upon receiving the top honor, she said, "I will never forget this moment because, in this moment, everything I have ever wanted has just happened to me."
