The wife of Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz is indeed stepping her feet on Broadway to play a showgirl named Roxie Hart.
Previous report suggesting that
Ashlee Simpson will head to Broadway turns out to be true as the songstress has confirmed that matter to MTV herself. In a play called "Chicago" which runs for ten-week starting on November 30, Ashlee will be seen starring as Roxie Hart, a wannabe vaudeville act who desperately wants to be famous.
"I'm honored to be reprising my role as Chicago's Roxie Hart, returning to the stage and joining this amazing cast," Ashlee shared her excitement to the publication. Making no attempt to reveal the other cast members' names, the 25-year-old mother however said, "Being on Broadway is a childhood dream come true."
Playing the part of Roxie Hart isn't Ashlee's first as she has previously taken on the particular part in 2006 London's West End. At that time, she described Roxie as a fun character to play. "For me, it wasn't like I ever wanted to have my name in the papers," she said. "It was usually like, 'Oh, no!' But I know what the feeling is. And I know what the celebrity life is like, so I tried to bring a little comedy to that."
Ashlee Simpson is not the only Hollywood star who expands her acting skills to Broadway. Other big names in movie industry who have done the same thing include
Daniel Radcliffe and Richard Griffiths both of whom played in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof". Aside from those two,
Jude Law has appeared in "Hamlet" in May 2009, and
Daniel Craig has starred opposite
Hugh Jackman in "A Steady Rain" in September.
