Courteney Cox Halts 'Cougar Town' Production Due to Family Matter

Following reports of the 45-year-old's absence from the new comedy show, ABC announces that the actress has completed three episodes that will be aired until early 2010.
is absent from filming her TV series "Cougar Town" to deal with family matter. On Saturday, November 21, a representative for ABC said in a statement, "We can confirm production on Cougar Town has been temporarily shut down in order for Courteney to deal with a private family matter."

However, as of the press time, there has been no word on how ABC will anticipate the mother of one daughter's absence. The representative for the network also declined to comment on whether or not it had a contingency plan of shooting without her.

Though Cox is taking a leave from the show, the 45-year-old has shot some episodes to keep fans entertained until early 2010. She has completed at least three episodes. Two of the episodes will be broadcast on November 25 and December 9, 2009, while the remaining one is for January 6, 2010 airing. The January episode particularly will include Cox's former co-star in "Friends", , who is going to portray a mean dermatologist that Cox's character keeps going to.

"Cougar Town" is a freshman success for ABC this season. It has earned 7.9 million viewers for its most recent episode that was aired on November 18. In the comedy series, Courteney Cox stars as Jules Cobb, a single mom in her forties who is interested in dating younger guys.
