Seven bulls used on the set of Tom Cruise's upcoming action comedy have broken free, causing two people to be slightly injured and the production to be suspended.
Tom Cruise-starring "
Knight & Day" has moved on its production to Spain, but before the shooting began, it has been hit by a mishap. On Sunday, November 22, seven bulls being used for scenes in the action comedy broke free from the film's set onto the streets of Cadiz, Spain. According to officials, the stampede slightly injured two unidentified women.
The bulls, which were recaptured approximately 40 minutes later, were actually being used to recreate scenes from the country's annual Pamplona bull run. Both Cruise and his co-star
Cameron Diaz were not on the set when the incident took place. Responding to the incident, the film's Spanish producer Calle Cruzada claimed that he did not know how the bulls managed to escape.
Following the break out of the bulls, it was reported that the mayor's office has called off shooting to re-evaluate safety procedures. A spokesperson for the mayor of Cadiz explained, "Nothing will be filmed in Cadiz until we have a new plan that guarantees the safety of local residents."
Rehearsals for scenes that imitate the famous bull run held each year in Pamplona, northern Spain itself was actually set to begin on Monday, November 23. Meanwhile, Cruise and Diaz were scheduled to join the production of this movie in Cadiz, Spain next weekend on November 28 to 29.
"Knight & Day" is directed by James Mangold. It tells the story of a fugitive couple on a glamorous and sometimes deadly adventure where nothing and no one - even themselves - are what they seem. Amid shifting alliances and unexpected betrayals, they race across the globe with their survival ultimately hanging on the battle of truth vs. trust. It is expected to be released on July 2, 2010.
