Wowing viewers and judges with his tango, the former teen idol and his dancing partner Kym Johnson bests over Mya and Kelly Osbourne and takes home the mirrorball trophy.
"Dancing with the Stars" has finally come to its end with Donny Osmond being crowned as season 9 winner. On the result show aired live Tuesday, November 24, the former teen idol was unraveled to be succeeding last season's champion
Shawn Johnson, giving his dancing partner Kym Johnson her first win.
Coming to the two-hour finale, Donny was actually trailing behind leading contender
Mya. The 51-year-old received a total score of 85 out of 90 from the judges following his performance on Monday, November 23, while Mya led with 87 out of 90. But after the viewers voting was counted, he secured the #1 seat and bested also over third place
Kelly Osbourne.
On the finale, all three finalists were required to perform their favorite dance of the season, and Donny chose to go with his Argentine Tango. Following the crowd-winning performance, he received nothing but praises from the judges as they thought he performed 100%, was in character and totally believable.
The result show of "Dancing with the Stars" was highlighted with the performance from Tom DeLay who has recovered from his injury and this season's other celebrities who had been eliminated earlier. The musical guest of the night was
Whitney Houston. She delivered one of her hit singles, "I Wanna Dance With Somebody".
Donny Osmond was the second Osmond to join the show. His sister Marie Osmond has participated on the dancing competition in season five. Paired with 2004 US Rising Star Latin Champion Jonathan Roberts, she finished third behind
Spice Girls' member Melanie Brown and Indy 500 racer Helio Castroneves.
