Suffering facial lacerations after being involved in a car accident, the golf champion has been treated and released from the hospital.
Although some reports have suggested that
Tiger Woods was in serious condition following his a solo car accident, the golf athlete is apparently in good condition. Providing updates on Woods' condition, his representative revealed that the 33-year-old was "admitted, treated and released" on the same day of his accident. The rep also claimed that the incident was "minor".
Woods was injured when he lost control of his 2009 Cadillac outside his Florida mansion which is located in the gated community of Islesworth. An incident report from the Florida Highway Patrol noted that the world's No. 1 golfer first hit a fire hydrant before smashing into a tree after he pulled out of his driveway at 2:25 A.M. on Friday morning, November 27.
About the golfer's condition on the scene of accident, Windermere Police Chief Daniel Saylor detailed that Woods suffered lacerations to his upper and lower lips. He recalled, "When they got there, they noticed he had lacerations to his lower and upper lip and blood in his mouth and he was in and out of consciousness."
Saylor also mentioned that it wasn't the police who pulled Woods out of his vehicle after the crash, but his wife Elin Nordegren whom he married back in October 2004. The police officer told People that the former Swedish model and the mother of Woods' two children used a golf club to smash out the back window to help get him out.
"When they got there, he was laying in the street," he reported. "His wife had broken out the back window with a golf club to get into the vehicle and pull him out." Giving more details, Saylor said, "She used two golf clubs. She bent one and used another one." Still, he admitted that he did not know how Nordegren managed to pull her husband out.
Officers Jason Sipos and Branson McDonald treated Woods for 10 to 15 minutes before the ambulance arrived. He was transported to Health Central Hospital in Ocoee, just outside of Orlando and Islesworth, where he was treated and released later on. No charges have been filed at this time, and it remains unclear what he was doing out at that hour. Some suggested that he had an argument with Nordegren before the incident took place.
