A preview to the December 4 episode of ABC's drama comedy series highlights on the special appearance of the Columbian singer.
Shakira will be seen making a cameo on "Ugly Betty" next Friday, December 4, and first look at her appearance has been unraveled in a promo for the 4.08 episode. Teasing what to be expected from the new episode, the video shares glimpses of the Columbian singer's encounter with America Ferrera's Betty Suarez in the Bahamas.
The episode titled "The Bahamas Triangle" heightens the love triangle between Betty, Matt and Amanda. It is said that things should be dreamy at the Atlantis resort, where even Shakira is staying. But, Betty has a nightmarish photo shoot after Willie learns her nemesis, Penelope Graybridge, snagged a coveted job, and, even more importantly, discovers Connor is very much alive.
While Betty deals with her photo shoot, Marc frets that there is no one on the island for him. But, it won't be for long since he meets the uber-hot Troy. Back home, Hilda draws closer to her old love, Bobby. Guest stars on the episode include Grant Bowler, Ralph Macchio, Christie Brinkley and Matt Newton.
Shakira has been announced to play herself in an upcoming episode of "Ugly Betty" in late September. ABC representative told E! back when that the two time Grammy-winning singer "will be shooting her scenes in New York, but they will [appear] in the Bahamas episode - which will most likely air in November."
Of her cameo in the show, show runner Silvio Horta told People, "We had a very memorable moment in the third episode where Betty has a makeover that goes wrong and she struts down the street to 'Hips Don't Lie'." He went on praising the singer, "She's an enormous Latina icon, as is Betty, and we thought it was a perfect fit."
