Confirming that he is willing to take part in the new 'Spider-Man' film franchise, the Kirsten Dunst's co-star says he wants to develop his Spider-Man character and his alter ego Peter Parker.
Tobey Maguire has addressed previous rumor by mentioning that he was unwilling to return to the fourth installment of "
Spider-Man" film franchise, "
Spider-Man 4". "It's not that I was reluctant," he said in a recent interview with The Boston Globe.
"For me, it's a big process to decide whether or not to do a role," the father of two children added. "I have to want to wake up in the morning and feel like I can't wait to get to work. I've got to feel okay about leaving my kids for 12 or 13 hours a day for five months. It's a big commitment."
During the interview, the 34-year-old also shared about his willingness to develop his Spider-Man character and his alter ego Peter Parker. "Hopefully I'll be able to evolve the character in a new direction," Maguire said. "He'll still be Peter Parker, but I hope I can move him forward a bit and take him to a place where there will be new challenges for me as an actor."
Tobey Maguire was last seen reprising his Spider-Man role in "
Spider-Man 3", which was released in May 2007. Beside being set to work in "Spider-Man 4" that will be dropped in theaters across the U.S. on May 6, 2011, he lands roles in "
Brothers", "
The Crusaders", "
The Details", "
Quiet Type", and "
Tokyo Suckerpunch".
