Grabbing eight nominations from the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards, the young country crooner follows Beyonce Knowles who leads the field with 10 nods.
Taylor Swift keeps on making 2009 her year. After grabbing five kudos each from both Country Music Association Awards and American Music Awards, the 19-year-old singer was revealed on Wednesday, December 2 that she is among the leading contenders at the upcoming 52nd Annual Grammy Awards.
The country crooner got only two nominations less than
Beyonce Knowles, who led the pack with 10 counts. Her nominations included Album of the Year for "Fearless", Song of the Year and Record of the Year. Both of the latest noms were for her "You Belong with Me" single. To win the mentioned three kudos, she will have to battle the R 'n' B diva as well as rising artist
Lady GaGa.
Taylor Swift and Beyonce Knowles were not the only ones with multiple nominations for the Grammys.
Kanye West,
Black Eyed Peas and
Maxwell each earned six nods, while
David Guetta,
Jay-Z and Lady Gaga received five each, and
Kings of Leon,
T-Pain and
Keith Urban were among those nailing four.
Some of the nominations for 2010 Grammy Awards were announced live at "The Grammy Nominations Concert Live: Countdown to Music's Biggest Night" which took place at Los Angeles' Club Nokia.
George Lopez was on hand to reveal the nominees for Song of the Year, while
Smokey Robinson and
Ringo Starr had the honor of announcing nominees for Record of the Year and Album of the Year.
"Grammy Nominations Concert Live!! - Countdown To Music's Biggest Night" marked the second year major Grammy nominations were unveiled on a primetime television special. It featured performances by Black Eyed Peas,
Sugarland, Nick Jonas and The Administration and Maxwell.
Linkin Park and
Katy Perry were among the presenters, while
LL Cool J served as host.
The 52nd Grammy Awards will be held on January 31 at 8 P.M. ET/PT. It will be aired live from at Los Angeles' Staples Center on CBS. The complete list of 2010 nominees, which listed the overall 109 categories, can be read at .
